Bollywood stars in Paris (Part I)
Shah Rukh takes Paris by storm. Preity and Rani woo French hearts with aplomb !
30 avril 2006
From 26 April to 1 May, Carlotta/Bodega films are organising Bollywood Week 2006, a week around Bollywood with projections of Bollywood blockbusters movies, shows, dances, masterclasses, karaokes, ... at one of the biggest cinema theatre in Europe, the Grand Rex in Paris.
On the 26 April, big stars of Bollywood came for the launch of Veer Zaara in theatres in France.
Inde en ligne gives you an exclusive highlight of this special and memorable day.
14:30 - 17:30 VIRGIN COMES ALIVE !!!
Parisians went agog as Indian stars came down the Champs Elysées late afternoon for a session that went crazy as fans who had gathered since hours became hysteric at the sight of their stars !
The ambience with the Virgin MegaStore called for a few people to be taken out due to fainting and heat because Virgin was packed of periodically screaming people going : « Shah Rukh, Shah Rukh, Shah Rukh !  »
The French visitors and shoppers were looking on with incredibly wondering what was happening.
And as things began to get out of hand, in they walked at around 17:00 and the crowd was in an uproar. Shah Rukh wanted to talk but even his getting up on a chair to himself calm down the crowds did not work any better. Instead the cries of « Shah Rukh  » became even louder ! And the only thing left to the actors was instead to blow kisses and wave to the crowd. Sign language that went to the hearts.
As autographs began being signed, our correspondent Ekta for Inde en ligne (IEL) greeted them with a few words :
IEL : Preity for you : Is it Cannes or Paris ?
Preity : (A magnificent dimpled smile, a slight wave of the head) I guess it is PARIS !
Whoa ! Paris we DID score on that one ;-)
IEL : Rani, do you speak French ?
Rani : No
IEL : When you spoke in your movie that was great, remember ?
Rani : When ?
IEL : In Hum Tum ?
Rani : (A sweet smile and twinkling eyes...) Yep. That was not a lot.
IEL : Yes, but it did make a difference. I think that our french viewers would love more of that !
Rani : Sure, why not ?
Shah Rukh kept signing and meeting one and all in very friendly gesture and as they left at about 17:30, we realized that Virgin had closed its doors to stop the incoming wave of crowds. Amazing phenomenon seen that Indian Cinema is probably not so very known here.
Talking to our correspondent and photographer, Joey, Mr. Sanjeev Kholi, CEO Yash Raj Films, music director of Veer Zaara and son of late Shri Madan Mohan said that the visiting team had been pretty overwhelmed at the response that they had got because they hadn’t expected to have other people than Indians. There were North Africans, Africans, Indians, Europeans, ...and French of course !
As the bus that took the stars back to the Ritz, came out on the Champs, there were masses of people shouting to the waving stars. In the frenzy the police had to protect the people and make the bus move by running in front of it and the security guards at virgin were sweating and shouting, for all they were worth. Still things went of pretty safely and everyone moved towards the Grand Rex for the next step in immense anticipation.
